The basic subscription costs about $12 per month, but it’s really an invaluable communication tool. I would also recommend a Garmin InReach mini. Get a handheld VHF and put it in the bag also. ACR makes a floating one you can get as a kit with your EPIRB. If you are planning to fish offshore, definitely get a ditch bag. Great boat! I have a 2801 and it’s a beast. Is there anything obvious that I'm missing that we should 100% consider getting before taking this boat out?Īlso we talked to the dealer about having the bow thruster option put on, but he said we should drive the boat for a while first to see if it's even necessary, as he thinks on this size of boat we'll be fine without it. I've got a lot of bottom fishing and king/Spanish tackle from my skiff and jet ski. I've got a shorter gaff for my skiff that I'll be replacing with a longer one. I've also got a ton of inshore and surf spinning setups. I have a hand me down Penn senator in great shape from my grandfather. I'm ordering some outriggers that were recommended to me as well.įor tackle I've already got 2 Shimano TLD 35s on short trolling rods, and two Penn squalls on a bit longer of rods. So far I've got a thru Hull transducer, VHF, radar, and touch screen. First time we have had anything really sea worthy and twin outboard. My dad just bought a 2022 Parker 2820 XLD and this is my family's first big boat. My skiff was a dump that I rebuilt myself over the course of a year. Been driving boats inshore and on lakes for 16+ years. I've been out in the ocean within 20mi on my jet ski I've rigged out for fishing. And I've had a 17' skiff for years now that I do inshore and nearshore fishing on (on calm days). So I've been around boats and fished my whole life.
